SOCIAL SCENE: Farewell to Callender

Share post:

FOR MANY years he has been a familiar face on bandstands, conducting the Royal Barbados Police Force Band with style and flair and last week Superintendent Cortez Callender stood in that role for one last time before putting down the baton.

The popular deputy director has shared his musical genius with audiences across Barbados and beyond these shores, not only in his official capacity, but as a member of the Barbados Festival Band, as a music teacher at several schools, and as a leading figure with the Barbados Youth orchestra.

The tributes at his farewell reception at the Prince Cave Hall reflected his sterling contribution and his wife Serline, daughter Linn and his mother Carmen Moore were all there to share the moment. (GC)
