BARBADOS IS USING more water than it has, and people in the areas most affected by outages are not being overlooked because of politics, said Minister responsible for Water Resource Management, Dr David Estwick, yesterday.
Those were two of the points he stressed during a media conference at the ministry’s Graeme Hall, Christ Church headquarters.
Estwick announced that Government will be getting into a venture with the private sector to make potable water tanks available at concessionary rates, a rapid response team will be set up to help meet consumers’ needs, and eight new tankers will be joining the Barbados Water Authority’s (BWA) fleet.
“Barbados can no longer rely on rainfall and groundwater for its potable water supply,” Estwick said. (CA)
