A 25-YEAR-OLD MAN who has spent 1 374 days on remand yesterday asked the court not to see him as a “monster but young man [who] made a mistake”.

Micah Stephen Elijah Grant, of Mayers Road, My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, was appearing before Justice Jacqueline Cornelius in the No.5 Supreme Court where he mitigated on his own behalf ahead his upcoming sentencing.

Grant is charged with entering Jenny’s Minimart and stealing $1 000 belonging to Albert Holder and $20 belonging to David Howell. At the time of the offence he was armed with a gun, for which he has also been charged.

Both offences occurred on February 25, 2012. He pleaded guilty to both and was sentenced to 12 months in prison on the robbery charge. (TKS)
