THE FUTURE of Barbadian youth, especially those aged 16 to 18, is of concern to Minister of Education Ronald Jones.

He made this known during Monday’s launch of Education Month at the Hopeland Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Mile-And-A-Quarter, St Peter, under the theme Education: 50 And Beyond.

Jones told the large audience that in spite of the fiscal challenges facing the country, whatever had to be done for the nation’s children would be done.

Notwithstanding $30 billion spent on education over the past 50 years and $4 billion within the past eight years, the minister admitted there were challenges ahead. For example, there were not enough spaces at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, Barbados Community College and several of the schools with sixth forms. (SDB Media)
