CONCERNS HAVE BEEN raised that a significant part of St Andrew’s history is disappearing.
Artist Don Small, who was commissioned by the St Andrew Parish Independence Committee to paint two murals of community stalwarts at the A. Dacosta Edwards Primary School, contended that this disappearance might be deliberate, though he did not give a reason.
He made the comments yesterday during a ceremony at the Belleplaine, St Andrew school to unveil the murals, one of which was of former parliamentarian Arlington Dacosta Edwards, after whom the school was named.
Small said: “I realise too that there seems to be a conscious effort to wipe certain memories off the landscape.
“For instance, St Simon’s School, I don’t think there are any photographs of the school, nor of Bawdens [Primary School]. [There are] very few photographs of old Turner’s Hall Primary School and all these things have just gone off the landscape. (SDB MEDIA)
