IT started off like business as usual for the Lemongrass restaurant on the morning of the passing of Tropical Storm Matthew.

But by midday the Asian cuisine restaurant was the butt of criticism on social media over the decision to open.

On Wednesday morning, the establishment announced that it would be open for business at the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre location.

In the early afternoon, during a Department of Emergency Management press conference, Minister of Home Affairs Adriel Brathwaite criticised a restaurant and an unnamed supermarket for opening before the all-clear was given.

“I think it’s irresponsible for these institutions, if what I’m hearing is correct, to be opened at this point in time when we’re asking persons to stay indoors because of how dangerous the surroundings are,” Brathwaite said. (TSG)
