Plans in place for river clean-up

PLANS for further dredging of the Constitution River are in the pipeline to ease flooding in the City, Acting Minister of Environment Jepter Ince said yesterday.

He was speaking to the WEEKEND NATION while on a tour that included the flood-prone James A. Tudor Roundabout next to the old Globe cinema.

Following the deluge from Tropical Storm Matthew that blanketed the roundabout and other areas in and around Bridgetown, Ince said he was aware of the problem with flooding.

While the acting minister praised the past work of the Drainage Division as most of the flooding quickly subsided, he revealed plans to have that important section of the Constitution River developed as a part of the drainage project. (AD)
