WHILE TROPICAL STORM Matthew wreaked havoc on certain areas of Barbados, the system proved nothing more than a nuisance to the local sporting landscape.
At least seven competitions in as many different sports experienced delays due to the inclement weather, yet each organiser revealed the resulting postponements should only set back their schedules by a week at most.
“It’s a bit of a setback to be honest, but not really a big one,” said coordinator of the Barbados Workers’ Union netball tournament, Mary Vaughan.
“We had the competition to be finished in the second week of November anyway and this is just one day it throws us off by.” (JM)
