THE QUEEN of road tennis may not be driving home a motor car as yet, but she will definitely be receiving the biggest payday by any woman winning an individual sports title in Barbados.
The Professional Road Tennis Association (PRTA) on Monday announced that the women’s winner of the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union Monarchs Of The Court will take home a whopping $15 000.
Originally, the first prize for the women was $7 000, with the men playing for a car worth $60 000, but the PRTA said the title sponsors doubled the prize money.
The second prize among the women will now be $5 000 while the losing semi-finalists will earn $1 000. (EZS)
