ALONG WITH BEING found guilty of not sending to school their children, a Rastafarian couple has a second legal battle as the Child Care Board wants custody of the minors.
In a twist after Magistrate Douglas Frederick tried and found the two members of Rastafarian Jah Holy Faith (RJHF) guilty on charges of failing to register and send two minors to school, news broke that the child care agency had applied to the High Court to make the children wards of the courts.
The mother and father of the children are guilty of not enrolling the nine-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy for full-time education on April 22, 2016.
During the trial in the Criminal Court No.1, the father and head of the RJHF spoke from the dock in an unsworn statement, saying it was not a “matter of education but the place of education”.
