THIS PLUM TREE did not survive to see another Arbor Day.

The unfortunate flora was cut down on Thursday – Arbor Day no less – as it had become too great a nuisance to ignore.

The roots of the tree, situated at Welches Primary School in St Thomas, were responsible for many children falling and had invaded a neighbour’s property, causing them to issue a written complaint. As such, it had to go – on the very day dedicated to plants. (CA)
