Athletes assured of support

MINISTER OF SPORT Stephen Lashley has pledged, along with other sporting bodies within Barbados, to redouble their efforts in support of all local athletes.

He was speaking at a special luncheon held to honour double Olympic gold medallist Christian Taylor at the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) headquarters in Wildey yesterday.

“We know that in building out our capacity to do well, at not only the Olympics, but any major championship, that we have to do quite a bit of work in investing in the individual and collective talents of our athletes. I believe that having gone through the Rio games in particular, that it is our resolve both at the level of the Ministry, the National Sports Council, the BOA, and the Barbados Athletic Association to redouble our efforts in support of our athletes.” (RA)
