A POLICE WITNESS yesterday recounted the day he was called to Brittons Hill where he discovered the “lifeless” body of a child in a car.

Constable Paul Prescod took the stand yesterday afternoon to give evidence in the trial of Dave Anthony Searles.

Searles, 43, of Cemetery Lane, St Peter, is charged under Section 5(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to the Children Act, Chapter 145. The charge states that: having custody of Ethan Searles, a child under 16 years, he wilfully exposed the five-month oldchild in a manner likely to cause injury to his health.

The incident allegedly occurred on December 5, 2012.

The trial is taking place in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant. (TKS)
