BARBADIANS FROM AROUND the world are heading home in their numbers to celebrate the country’s 50th anniversary of Independence, and hoteliers are expecting to reap some of the sweets.

Chairman of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Alvin Jemmott, said yesterday that Barbadians living in the United States, Canada and England had been booking accommodation of various types to ensure they were on the island for the jubilee celebration.

He told the DAILY NATION that groups from Orlando and Tampa in the state of Florida, US, and from Toronto in Canada were making plans for the trip back.

At Hilton Barbados, assistant director of sales Tracy Jones confirmed that increased arrivals from Barbadians returning home were being represented in more group bookings during November. (GE)
