MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED that the Ministry of Transport and Works, in conjunction with its contractor Rayside Construction Limited, will be closing a section of Highway 5 to facilitate the demolishing and upgrading of a culvert and retaining wall at Marley Vale, St  Philip.

This work, which forms part of the upgrading of the road from St Catherine’s to Wellhouse, will commence tomorrow to run until approximately the end of November.

During this period, there will be no access to all vehicular traffic through Marley Vale and motorists will be asked to divert.

Traffic travelling east from St Catherine’s to Ragged Point will be diverted through St Catherine’s Road to Sealy Hill while traffic travelling west from Ragged Point will be asked to divert through St Catherine’s Road. Signs will be placed at both intersections to alert drivers of the detours.

Concrete barricades will also be erected to block Highway 5 at both ends of the culvert in Marley Vale. Road users are asked to be aware of the road signs, cones and flashing lights warning of the ongoing road works.

The Ministry and Rayside Ltd apologised for the inconvenience and thanked the public for its patience. (PR/NB)
