THE ROAD TENNIS courts are even luring more players at the primary school level.
Co-ordinator of the National Primary Schools Road Tennis Championship Ricardo Marshall announced that 12 more schools have registered for the championship this year.
“There is a heightened interest for sure; road tennis is on the up and up. Sixty schools are participating in the competition this year while 48 participated last year, so we have a 12-school increase,” he told NATION SPORT.
Though he was unaware of the number of girls who would be taking part, he said he hoped to see more of them.
“At this time we don’t know who the teams will comprise of but we would like to get more girls involved in the game; it’s our game. Last year we had some girls participating, so we are hoping for an increase”. (RG)
