THE WEST INDIES Cricket Board today announced that effective immediately, it has “separated” from head coach Phil Simmons.

In a release, the WICB said the decision was taken on September 10 in a meeting of the board of directors.

“In recent times, based on the public pronouncements of the coach and the approach internally, we have identified differences in culture and strategic approach. The WICB would therefore like to thank the coach for his contribution and wishes him the best in his future endeavours,” the statement said.

The board said Joel Garner will serve as manager of the team for the upcoming series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. The coaches will be Henderson Springer and Roddy Estwick. (PR/NB)
