TEACHERS IN THE local public school system have been told to take advantage of continuous training opportunities and be mindful of how they ridicule schools publicly.
Acting Minister of Education Senator Harcourt Husbands made the point as he welcomed new students in two programmes at the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College recently.
He said that since his appointment as parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Education he has had the opportunity to visit most of the private schools and found their standards to be extremely high.
He noted that when he was a teacher in the 1980s a lot of what was given as private education in Barbados was below the standard of what obtained in Government schools. (LK)
