“Q” WAS IN the New York community once again at the weekend as a large Barbadian-dominated crowd turned out for an afternoon of food, fun, festivities, dancing and karaoke.

Dr Donna Hunte-Cox, Barbados’ Consul General in New York, addressed the Q In The Community gathering, held at St Gabriel’s Episcopal Church grounds in Brooklyn on Sunday. The highly popular event preceded the annual West Indian carnival on Eastern Parkway.

Hunte-Cox urged the audience to get involved in participating in various activities leading up to the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Barbados.

“It is very important to note in the history of Barbados, Q In The Community is CBC’s brand, and this year as Barbadians celebrate the 50th anniversary, I invite you to invest in the youth going forward for the next 50 years,” she said.

Renowned New York-based Barbadian radio commentator Neville Bush was happy to be also part of the action.

“This event has proven to be one of the most popular Barbadian festivals in New York,” he said.

Spotted chatting with patrons was United Nations Ambassador Tony Marshall, as well as Barbadian Opposition Member of Parliament Dwight Sutherland. (CJ)
