HORSE OF THE YEAR, Sirius Black looks almost certain to close out the Barbados Turf Club’s second season in a blaze of glory when he tackles six opponents in the 1 570 metres feature race, set to run off at 3:15 p.m. today.
The Sale Graduates’ Champion Stakes (weight for age) – the day’s fourth race – appears well within his grasp despite him packing top weight. The Victor Cheeseman-trained six-year-old gelding has continued his exemplary form and is the one they will try hard to beat.
Nekitta, although plagued with injuries since her three-year-old campaign, is long overdue another appointment with the photographer in the winner’s enclosure.
The others, including Janak’s Gold, will be hoping to pull off a surprise victory at the Garrison Savannah.
