PARTYGOERS ATTENDING an unauthorised jam in Wotton, Christ Church, in the wee hours of yesterday were sent scampering for their lives when gunmen opened fire, apparently with high-powered weapons.

In the aftermath of the shoot-out which police say occurred at around 1:45 a.m., 16-year-old Darren Taylor lay sprawled out on the ground with a shot to his head. He is in critical condition fighting for his life in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

Three other men, aged 35, 21 and 19, were also shot, while a 35-year-old woman was treated for bruises after being trampled during the ensuing melee. The men received injuries to their neck, right ankle and right hand, respectively.

However, people who were present at the “promotional jam” said the number of people injured could be higher as some of those hurt fled the scene without seeking medical assistance. (RB)
