This view was expressed by chief executive officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS), James Paul, in response to a recent call for the Government to allow local businesses to import chicken.
The appeal for Government to remove ts import ban came from an unnamed businessman in yesterday’s SUNDAY SUN who complained that private sector entities could not access bargains within the region.
Paul said this provision would threaten the sector, which had already been hurt by the importation of wings by the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC), the only entity allowed to import the product. (LT)
