YOUNG, EAGER and some bashful faces greeted parents and family members as their charges proudly showcased their musical talents on Saturday evening.

The children, some as young as four, were the star attraction at Harmony In Motion Music Summer Camp concert held at the First Baptist Church, Constitution Road, St Michael.

Most who had never played a musical instrument prior to joining the camp, showed the progress they had made on the piano, drums and guitar, while some even sang.

Proud guardians pulled out electronic devices to record the moment and cheered loudly as the students, the eldest being 12, played classical and contemporary pieces under the watchful eyes of their young instructors.

During the camp, held over seven weeks, the children were also taught art and craft, some of which were on display during the concert.

Pastor Paul Leacock said the camp was held, in part, to increase the number of musicians available to the church because it was important to have their own.

“This is a new and a different step that we have taken, and the intent is that we would have a cadre of musicians that will serve the ministry of the church,” he explained. (WILLCOMM)
