Olympic positives

IN SPITE OF not gaining any medals or reaching the second round in their individual events, there were a number of positives by the Barbadian competitors at the recent Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

“As far as positives, we had a lot of firsts. We had a young, inexperienced team but we raised our flag, we performed true, we performed fair, gave our best and that’s what we want,” Chef De Mission Dr Adrian Lorde told SATURDAY SPORT at the Grantley Adams International Airport after returning home with a nine-member contingent.

“Of course, we didn’t do as well as we had hoped, as well as they [competitors] had expected, so they were disappointed that we are one of the 116 countries that did not get a medal at the Olympics,” he noted.
