Shooting upsets St Lucy folk

THERE HAS TO be another way of dealing with mentally ill people other than shooting them, cried a distraught St Lucy family yesterday.

Dwayne Husbands, of Trents, St Lucy, was killed by police following an altercation with police at his home.

Acting Inspector Stephen Griffith, who is also acting public relations officer, told the media that around 10 a.m. lawmen responded to a matter at the St Lucy neighbourhood and “were confronted by Dwayne Husbands. As a result, he was injured and he subsequently passed away”.

However, the incident left family members and neighbours in shock and upset at the death of a man they said had a history of mental illness, but was not dangerous. (AD)
