PM: Cherish family

PUBLIC LIFE AND POLITICS MATTER, but neither should come at the expense of family life, says Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.

Stuart said this was an important lesson he learnt from the life of the late Sir Fredrick Smith, Barbados’ first Attorney General, who was laid to rest last Friday.

The St Michael South MP was speaking in the Lower House yesterday during tributes to Sir Frederick. Stuart said Sir Frederick was “a quintessential part of Barbadian life”, deserving of “every honour bestowed on him”, and someone who “we will not easily replace”.

But the Prime Minister said beyond the various accolades, Sir Frederick’s dedication to his family was admirable. (SC)
