THE NATIONAL UNION OF PUBLIC WORKERS (NUPW) is not backing down from its fight at the National Housing Corporation (NHC) and has challenged the Minister of Housing and Lands.
On Friday, two days after a walkout at the NHC which falls under the portfolio of Minister Denis Kellman, the union rejected his claims and reinforced its claims of unfairness and nepotism.
On Wednesday a number workers stayed off the job at the NHC’s Country Road, St Michael headquarters accusing the state-owned agency of nepotism and unfairness over the appointment of a new manager ahead of Polla Blackman who had been acting for a year in the post.
In its statement on Friday, the NUPW denied that, as claimed by the minister, Blackman, the substantive assistant human resources officer of the NHC, was given a handsome package for acting. (PR/AC)
