Scorching time at Island Mas

THERE WAS A DOUBLE DOSE of heat on Sunday and it was centred on one location – Ocean Park, Christ Church.

The party vibes were hot and the temperature scorching. But the patrons at Island Mas Breakfast Party seemed to want to set a record as to who can party plenty.

The dance floor was consistently packed and the two industrial fans blowing water brought some relief. Those who were not near to the fans made sure they were fully hydrated.

The party was pumping from start to finish and even went past the allocated 3 p.m. cut-off. Old friends were reacquainted and new friendships formed.

The island feel was brought by the décor, with cabanas and “floating” umbrellas.

Food was plenty, with breakfast and lunch being served. There were doubles, suckling pig, Chinese takeaway, pasta, soup and more, as well as premium drinks at various bars. Freshly cut coconuts quenched thirsts.

DJ music and live performances further satiated the appetite of soca lovers that lapped up Mikey, Leadpipe & Saddis, Hypasounds, Nikita, Marvay and Farmer Nappy who graced the stage.

The new venue worked well for the intimate party and the numbers were such that wait time was acceptable, whether at entrance to the event or for sustenance. (NS)
