IN THE WAKE of losing his home and almost his life, Nicholas Hinkson is frustrated that no assistance has come from social services agencies.

The 35-year-old, who was trapped under therubble of his bedroom floor for almost 45 minutes and had to be rescued by officers of the Barbados Fire Service, said he was disheartened by the responsehe and his mother got from National Housing Corporation (NHC).

Nicholas told the MIDWEEK NATION that more than a week after the floor of two of the three bedrooms in the Chapel Gap, Spooner’s Hill, St Michael home caved in, they were told nothing was available.

Nicholas received soft tissue damage while his mother Cheryl Hinkson, 53, escaped unhurt, along with his seven-year-old niece Daneisha Eversley.  But his sister Avonelle Williams, 25, and her two-year-old daughter received injuries. Avonelle had to have surgery on her right hand which was badly cut and fractured. (LK)
