RELATIVES OF THOSE with dementia need to exercise patience when dealing with the older people in their family circle.
That advice came today from Registrar of the Psychiatric Hospital Dr Ronald Chase as he gave a brief presentation under the theme Understanding the Elderly in Their Golden Years: Dementia.
“You must be caring and keep an eye on them,” he advised while at the Black Rock institution.
“There is a particular pattern of how a person presents themselves. It starts very subtle and progresses to another level. The person may be hallucinating but may not be aware of that,” Chase added. (MR)
