DEAR CHRISTINE: They blame me for his breakdown

Dear Christine,

FOR TWO YEARS there has been an understanding between a boy and I. I am 18 and he is 23. As they say the course of true love never runs smooth, and so like all young lovers we have had our misunderstandings but eventually we would make up.

I remember one quarrel which was so bad that I took some of my mother’s pills and they thought I would die. He was very afraid and sorry and we became friends again. From then to now his parents has taken a dislike to me because they say I am the cause of his nervousness. Their doctor told them that we upset each other too much and that now during his breakdown he should not see me.

I think that this is very unfair.

P.H

Dear P.H:

I think it maybe is best for both of you to keep apart for a while. I also think a psychiatrist might be able to clear things up for you. Why did you have to take such drastic measures over a quarrel? What in your relationship could have caused him to have a nervous breakdown?

I know how miserable this must all make you feel but since being together does not seem to bring either of you real peace and happiness, why not try staying apart?

– CHRISTINE
