EARLY BIRDS have already gathered at Bushy Park hours before the scheduled start of the MQI/98.1 Soca Royal Competition.
The gates opened at 1 p.m., but the Sweet Soca Competition is not scheduled to get underway until 6:45 p.m. and the Party Monarch at 8:50 p.m.
Patrons who arrived early have picked up prime position at the venue.Â
Many have brought portable chairs, tents and umbrellas, but there are also a few entrepreneurs selling chairs, umbrellas and flags of several Caribbean nations.
Stall owners are also busy preparing meals for the many expected to come to the venue later today.
The sales vans of several distribution companies are on site, selling beverages and ice.
In the meantime, the DJs are entertaining those present.
DJ Dove opened the show and was followed by Mikey Dread. Also scheduled to entertain the audience are Kirk Browne, Verseewild and Indian.
Vers, the Soca Rumble Monarch of St Maarten will make a guest appearance and he will be followed by the Monarchs of the Mas Show, featuring Gabby, Ras Iley, Barry Chandler, Khiomal, Super Hype, Bashment Soca King Stiffy and Grynner.
Bishop Babb of the Spiritual Baptist Church blessed the day’s events. (SAT)
