De MC and Summa are new junior Monarchs

DE MC AND SUMMA are the new king and queen of the Scotiabank Junior Monarch competition.

Last night at Kensington Oval, De MC was crowned king in the 13 to 18 age group, while Summa began her reign in the eight to 12 category.

As the first performer in his age group, De MC set a standard that no one could beat with Outta Love, earning 450 points from the judges. But not far behind was crowd favourite Raheem who took second place with 448 points for his rendition of My Story.

Sparkle T and RJ rounded out the top four with 440 and 420 points, respectively.

The recession is not only affecting adults, and eight-year-old Summa was very effective with Go Away Recession, showing how it was affecting children. She earned 418 points.

Star Diamond will have to wait a little longer to be Calypso Queen, placing second with 408 points.

Browne Star was third with 390 points for his rendition of Train We Up and A@-Lee-Ah fourth with Too Young, five points adrift. (SAT)
