THE Hero Caribbean Premier League is not just about money – it’s about developing an attractive product to generate economic activity throughout the region.
That’s the assertion from CPL chief executive officer Damien O’Donohoe amidst concerns in some quarters about the business model of the glitzy Twenty20 tournament, which is now into its fourth year.
“It’s strange for people to say it is all about money. I think most businesses always have to be focused on the bottom line because they need to stay alive at the end of the day,” O’Donohoe told SUNSPORT.
“I’ve been very upfront. The investment so far has been US$20 million. Will we break even [this year]? It’s touch and go. This year, more money has been put in, so we could be up to US$21 or US$22 million.”
