In the second week of the Coach Educators Course hosted by the Academy of Sport at Cave Hill Campus in partnership with the Belgium Football Association (BFA) and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), the learning level has gone up substantially.
Coach Anton Corneal of Trinidad and Tobago said he thinks it is a beneficial course for the Caribbean, especially when there is no mutual way of presenting information to young players and that it will also bring a lot of credibility to coaches due to the standardising of coach development.
“Hopefully this will be used in most of the countries in the Caribbean, especially since the CFU in the past has not stepped forward. Now they have stepped forward with the university and BFA to produce a certificate that helps instructors present this course.
“It’s beneficial information on different ways of how you present information, how young players learn, what are the steps taken and it makes you very aware and helps improve you as a coach and also puts us in a situation to help other coaches,” said the technical development officer for FIFA, who oversees 11 Caribbean countries.
