BROWNES BEACH couldn’t be transformed into a desert, but BAJE International and Mix Nutz tried their best.
The two co-hosted the fete Sahara and any similarities this fête had to the world’s largest, hottest desert were the rising temperatures caused by the humid atmosphere and the hundreds of dancing patrons at Copacabana Beach Bar and Grill last Sunday.
From its 5 p.m. start until it finished at 12 a.m., the patrons who assembled on Browne’s Beach had cups filled with drinks and the vibes was pumping.
The beach bar, which is located on the yellow sands at the popular Bridgetown beach along Bay Street, was transformed into a stylish partyzone, where the feters danced under mood-setting bistro lighting and tiki torches.
Thanks to DJs Bubbles, Salt and Andre Rebel Elias, Jus-Jay and Puffy, there was a “Cohobblopot” of music. There was also some pop music, reggae, electronic dance music (EDM) and even some salsa and that seemed to have satisfied all.
The organisers of one of the biggest Kadooment bands and one of the leading J’ouvert bands ought to be applauded for an aptly decorated, well organised and timed event, which also had a new socially responsible twist.
Though it was festive, the event was not all fun and games and yet again kudos must go out the organisers who saw the need to include the Cosumers’ Gurantee Insurance (CGI) team and its breathalyzer booth into the mix.
Before and after the pumping started the revellers were encouraged to stop at the booth and have their alcohol levels checked. (TG)
