YOUNG Darius “Baracus” Gaskin and Davian “Force Ripe” Taylor  joined top seeds Julian “Michael Jackson” White and Mark “Venom” Griffith in the semi-finals of the NCF Bridgetown Road Tennis Tournament.

Gaskin and Taylor scored upset wins, while White and Griffith predictably continued on a collision path when the quarter-finals came off at the Deighton “Pa” Roach Tennis Centre in Bush Hall on Thursday night.

Gaskin came from 16-19 in each game to stun Michael “Mikey Jean” Jean 21-19, 21-19 in a match punctuated with some degree of humour. After letting go of the first game Jean went to his notes, which he asked Emar Edwards to loudly read for him as he battled Gaskin.

Something was obviously lost in the translation as Jean once again failed to capitalise on a winning advantage, with Gaskin proving the better player on the night.
