Teams named for Sir Garry: 80 not out celebrity match

THE SQUADS AND their managers have been named.

Clive Lloyd’s team of cricketing masters will come up against Sir Vivian Richards’ all-star crop of young talent in a T20 Legends to Legacy celebration of Sir Garfield Sobers’ 80th birthday

The July 28 showdown will be held at the Kensington Oval starting at 6:30 p.m. with an opening ceremony. This celebrity match is one of the flagship events in the Sir Garry: 80 Not Out Season of Celebration being held from July 3rd to July 31st.

Former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd will manage a team of West Indian and international legends including Sir Curtly Ambrose, Brian Lara, Pedro Collins, English cricketer Andrew Flintoff and Ravi Shastri of India.

 Sir Viv’s team boasts young blood such as Barbados Under-19 players Rivaldo Clarke and Nyeem Young, as well as two members of the West Indies female T20 cricket team, Shamilia Connell and Shaquana Quintyne.

The celebrations start with the Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament from July 3rd and will continue with a Gala Reception on the evening following the match – July 29th, titled An Evening with Sir Garry, which will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. An invitational golf tournament at the prestigious Sandy Lane Golf and Country Club closes the month of events on July 31. (PR)
