A GOVERNMENT AGENCY owes nearly half-million dollars in copyright payments.
And the body responsible for collecting it will be going after that and thousands more due by other entities, even if it means going to court.
Musicians in Barbados stand to lose big paydays in royalties as a result of non-payment of funds to the Copyright Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Inc. (COSCAP).
Chief executive officer of the 1 200-strong body, Erica Smith, speaking to the DAILY NATION during a break at COSCAP’s Business Of Music – Making The Music Work workshop at The Courtyard by Marriott yesterday, confirmed reports that her group was owed almost half-million by the Government entity, but she declined to disclose its identity.
However, subsequent investigations by the DAILY NATION revealed that entity was the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation. Efforts to reach the Pine, St Michael company for a response last night were unsuccessful. (TSG)
