Sealy: Airport in north a long way off

AN AIRPORT IN THE NORTH of Barbados may yet be a consideration, but Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy asserts

Member of Parliament for St Lucy Denis Kellman has often called for an airport to be built in the northern part of the island.

Yesterday Sealy told the House of Assembly that while a suitable piece of Government-owned land in that parish had been identified as a possible site for an airport “that will be privately owned”, there were several aviation considerations that first had to be taken into account.

In wrapping up debate on the Civil Aviation Amendment Bill 2016, Sealy said a pre-feasibility study first had to be done and it was therefore “a little previous” to be asking for costings and numbers associated with any such project at this point. (GC)
