‘Safer’ with police outpost

SOME HOT SPOT areas that were once known for crimes and violence have seemingly transformed.

Residents in areas like Deacons, Chapman Lane and New Orleans in St Michael say it is all because of the presence of the police outposts stationed in their communities.

While there is no outpost in Black Water, Richmond Gap, some residents say that being in close proximity to the Black Rock Police Station, which is literally a stone’s throw away, any threat of violence has been silenced.

With the recent spate of shootings in Brittons Hill, St Michael, which claimed the lives of two men and left one with a gunshot wound to a foot, some residents have called for a police post. (CM)
