PATRICK HUSBANDS achieved another significant milestone yesterday.

The champion Barbadian jockey picked up his 3 000th career win when he guided Shez a Ten I Know to a three-and-a-half-length victory in the opening race of the card at the Woodbine track in Canada.

The 43-year-old Husbands, a seven-time champion at Woodbine, expressed surprise at reaching the milestone which he completed aboard the Mark Casse-trained horse.

“When I first started out, I never thought I would reach 3 000 career wins. It’s a great feeling,” he said. “I want to thank Mark and all the trainers and owners at Woodbine who have helped me throughout my riding career. Without Woodbine, and the horses, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
