RIVALDO LEACOCK starred on the final day of the Olympians Classic at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Leacock not only hammered a top field in the men’s open of the 400 metres hurdles but also set a new junior national record. He clocked 50.90 seconds in a race he always controlled. 
The new mark erased the one he set last year of 51.30 seconds. He also surpassed the standard set for the upcoming World Junior Championships.
The established and experienced Kion Joseph was second in 51.20 and Jahvere Worrell came third in 53.80 seconds.
Nicholas Deshong was so close but yet so far away from qualifying for the Rio Olympics as he won the 200 metres open in 20.58 seconds, just outside of the Olympic mark of 20.50 seconds. He will have another chance when the nationals are staged in the next two weeks. (AT)
