FELLOW DIPLOMATS, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and membners of the Pan African Movement recently said goodbye to Venezuelan Ambassador José Gonzales Febrés, who returns home Tuesday after his four-year tour of duty in Barbados.

At the farewell reception hosted at Blue Horizon Hotel, Febrés told his guests:

“I have the happiness of returning home, but also the sadness of leaving so many friends and so many people who have always been working with us to improve relations with Barbados.”

His wife Yllermina Celis was smiling as he went on to talk about the “wonderful experience” he and his family had here.

Febrés’ “special friend”, Minister of Foreign Affairs Senator Maxine McClean spoke glowingly about the even stronger diplomatic relationship fostered between the two countries during the tenure of the Venezuelan Ambassador.

“Thank you very much for maintaining the strength of relationship between our countries,” Senator McClean said before glasses were raised in a farewell toast.
