THE BATTLE LINES have been drawn between president of the National Union of Public Workers, Akanni McDowall, and some members of the union.
A second try at a no-confidence motion against the president garnered enough signatures to prompt an advertisement in Thursday’s DAILY NATION summoning members to a special general conference this Tuesday to deal with the matter. A previous attempt failed because of a lack of the required 50 signatures.
McDowall is contending the motion is all an attempt to discredit him and detract from burning issues such as the appointment of customs officers and the requested 23 per cent increase for public servants among other things.
