Vendors sent packing

A CLEAN SWEEP of the Fairchild Street bus stand yesterday afternoon by police forced dozens of vendors to pack up their produce and go, forthwith.

The vendors, some of who complained they had families to feed, while othersĀ  bemoaned the fact they had to throw away good produce, had to remove all their fruits and vegetables from their trays and pack them into bags and cart them away.

Officers from the Royal Barbados Police Force swooped down around midday, ordering that all vendors who did not have permits had to remove themselves and their stalls from the area.

Despite the many pleas, they all had to go.
