DEAR CHRISTINE: After two years, he wants to marry old flame

DEAR CHRISTINE: I have been in love with a man for the past two years.

We did almost everything together and spoke on the telephone quite often.

Christine, out of the clear blue sky, he told me he was leaving the island to live abroad and that he would be getting married overseas as well.

This broke my heart so much. I knew when we met he said he had a friend who lived abroad, but I never knew they were still in contact.

I am writing this letter with tears in my eyes, because I believe he should have been more frank with me about his relationship with this woman whom he now wants to become his wife.

I have decided that I want nothing more to do with him.

Is this the right thing to do, or should I hope he will have a change of mind?

Also, should I keep the conversation between us flowing?

Please tell me what to do.

– MP

Dear MP:

I believe you should call it a day. This man did say he had a friend overseas, but his deception was borne out in the fact that he never explained the true nature of his relationship with this woman. I guess he did that so he could continue seeing you until it was near time for him to leave the island.

Starting over is not always easy but it can be achieved. I am sure you are stronger thanb you actually think. I am not telling you to ignore him as though he never existed, but I am telling you to do what’s best for you at this point in time. Only you will know what this is.

– CHRISTINE
