Motion against McDowall

PRESIDENT OF THE National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), Akanni McDowall, is being accused of behaving in a way that could fracture the organisation, causing strike action at the secretariat and, among other things, acting outside his powers.

These are among the charges levelled against the 35-year-old in a renewed attempt to remove him through a no-confidence motion.

The latest resolution dated May 27, and addressed to the general secretary of the union, stated that the members “have lost all confidence in the president Akanni McDowall to preside over the affairs of the National Union of Public Workers”.
