CHILDREN WILL NATURALLY show an interest in healthy living but it is the parents who must spur on that interest.

So said associate nutritionist at the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) Donna Barker during a farmers’ market at the corporation’s Fairy Valley Plantation home.

She said even though there was this natural interest, it was nullified if children lived in an environment where unhealthy eating was the norm.

The Class Three boys of the Milton Lynch Primary School who toured the market were said to be purchasing fruits for the entire morning including large pieces of juicy watermelon.

Other tours will be scheduled every month for school-aged children. (MR)
