THERE WAS no more room in the inn, so to speak, at St Mary’s Anglican Church on Tuesday night, as followers of many religious faiths gathered for another HymnSpeak, part of the annual Gospelfest, now in its 24th year.

With a theme of At The Cross, all the selected hymns were centred around the Cross of Jesus.

The HymnSpeak Voices, which formed the choir, directed by Reverend Mikie Roberts, led attendees in such songs as Lead Me To Calvary, At Calvary and Beneath The Cross Of Jesus.

In celebration of Barbados’ 50th anniversary of Independence, choir members were all bedecked in national colours.

In addition, some of the hymns also carried the indigenous spouge beat, which had the congregation swaying and clapping. (RL)
